A Bit About YourSpace
YourSpace is a family-centred practice run by clinical psychologist, Dr Angela Dixon, providing specialist psychological services to adults, adolescents and children in Launceston, Tasmania. At YourSpace, I strive to empower individuals to improve their emotional health, deal with challenges & make positive changes in their lives.
Get to Know Me
I am a registered Clinical Psychologist with over 30 years experience working with emotionally troubled individuals across a broad range of clinical & community settings in Australia & overseas. I am both a clinician and researcher, with PhD level qualifications. I began my career working with street kids in inner-city Melbourne, & for the past 2 decades have worked as a senior clinician at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, combining clinical, teaching, research and management roles.
I am also a sixth-generation Tasmanian who has recently made her way home after a very long walkabout...
(...which I am very happy about, if this photo is anything to go by....)
What To Expect
At Your Visit
My aim is to create a safe, respectful and non-judgmental therapeutic space for you to heal and grow. With empathy and support, I will aid you in learning new skills and building on your strengths in order to better manage your presenting concerns. Together we will use this space to gain an improved perspective of yourself as a whole person. My goal is to guide you in building trust and confidence in your own capabilities as you move forward.
I work primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework and will readily draw from other necessary approaches and perspectives which best suit each individual client and issue. I provide evidence based-treatment for individuals and families across the lifespan with a diverse range of psychological difficulties.
How I Can Help You
I provide therapeutic interventions for a broad range of presenting issues including, but not limited to, anxiety-related disorders, trauma, OCD, emotion regulation issues, depression and mood disorders, work and academic issues, interpersonal problems, bullying, grief and loss, self-esteem, body image issues, procrastination and perfectionism...
